Handmade Step Stools and Eco Kids

Stools are in high demand in this house.  If you aren't the one standing on it when it's hand-washing time, you wish you were.  (Well, if you're short that is!)  The girls were thrilled to receive their own daddy-made stools under the Christmas tree this year, and there is no longer any squabbling over who gets to stand on the stool.

I suggested the project, and my husband used this site for inspiration.  He altered the designs though because I asked for a design that would not tip easily. The wood was scraps that we had from other projects. They still need painted, but for now, we love them!

Don't forget to sign up for my giveaway this week:

Last week was our biggest week yet at Eco Kids.  We had 42 entries!  Thank you all for making this a huge success, and I'm excited for an even bigger week this week.  I want to share some of my favorite nature and science activities from last week:

We made it seven years, and no one's kidding when they say that marriage has its good times along with the bad.  The good news for us is that we made it through together, and I'm hoping that 2013 will be our best year ever.  To celebrate, Scott took me to Phipps to relax and take some photos.  I'm posting some of my favorites.  I even bought a fair trade item in the gift shop, but it's a gift, so I'm not posting a photo today.

Thank You Lord

A jar of homemade cookies makes a nice Christmas gift

7th Anniversary at Phipps Conservatory

A traditional rocking horse

Cloth gift bags are a great Eco-friendly option.

...for a day at home with my girls to clean, organize, and relax.

...for time with family and so many generous gifts given to our family.

...for an absolutely wonderful first Christmas in our new home!

...for time cozied up in bed to read.  I've been loving the Christian novel First Dawn that my mom lent me.

...for progress on my first hand-knit set of legwarmers for Addie.

...for celebrating the birth of our Lord.

..for learning to use the new camera's self timer!

...for the exciting time of teaching several new students music starting next month.

...for a huge reduction in waste created by my family this Christmas.

...for my husband and time I got to spend with him on our 7th anniversary at Phipp's Conservatory.  I'm excited to go back later this month with my mom too!

...for two new Stainless Steel Flip Straw Bottles.  I'm glad to recycle some of the old faded plastic ones!

...for this space and the lovely readers.  I pray that each family was blessed this Christmas!

Reader, what are you thankful for today?
