Alpaca!

So, I knit now.  I started knitting as a whim, and I thought it would eventually be useful to my family if I could just whip up some mittens.  My husband likes the idea since he remembers his grandma knitting.  Nostalgic. So, I have finished three projects thus far.  (I'll post about my most recent finished project soon!)  But today I must tell you about the new project I just started.  It's absolutely divine...  And I don't say that because after three small toys I now have amazing knitting skills!  Far from it.  However, I did decide to start my project for Adelaide with the yarn I bought at the Johnny Appleseed Festival.  It's hand spun alpaca from Mountain Mud Handmade.    I must say, I wish that I had finished off the rest of the yarn I have laying around before I started because, oh my, this is some quality fiber.  It is actually easier to knit with, and the look of the stitches is amazing compared to the acrylic (did you know it's made with petroleum!?) that I was using for my last project.  If all turns out well, and I actually am able to create a wearable garment, I think I may be hooked for life!

  2. Oh wow! That is knitting up so beautifully!! I can't wait to see the finished project! I think perhaps we actually live fairly close? I am about 30 miles north of the city. Johnny Appleseed Festi-ville is my home town. How is it that you happened up there?
