Homework Time

Ana has started to imitate the homework routine.  She brings me papers to check over, and she sits at the table oh-so-diligently working.  It seems like just the time to start some of her own activities.
This one was an idea from the Princess and the Tot.  I use Barney stickers that she got for Christmas (yes, my girl is a Barney lover!) to make a design.  Then I asked her to match the stickers with those from another identical sheet.  This activity is great for fine motor skills as well as matching.

She was supposed to place the matching sticker right over the one on the paper, but halfway through she decided that she did not like covering them up, so she put them beside.  I didn't even care.  I was just glad to see my girl so happy to have her own homework!  (Notice the Eco- friendly paper from the recycle bin!  Yay for me!)

I need some more great toddler activities.  Any ideas?  Any great websites or blogs that you recommend?  It does not have be be a "work sheet"  type thing.  I'm thinking science experiments, cooking, and letter recognition.

  1. There are to very great books that I have recently discovered:

I hope this can be helpful to you!

    1. These look great! I can't wait to read them! I already have great ideas just from reading the samples on Amazon. I love that the one references Reggio Emilia. I love that approach...

  2. Hi Becks.
My toddler boys LOVE any sorting activity with little mini tongs and small items in a cupcake pan, or empty egg carton, etc. Type "Toddler sorting activities" into Google images, and you will see how MANY different ideas are out there. You can have her sort by size, color, type, many ideas. And they LOVE using little tongs (we use either kitchen tongs, toaster tongs, or our colorful ones from our BedBugs game but you can find kids tongs many places).

    1. Thank you for the ideas!! I already know Ana loves tongs, but the cupcake pans and egg cartons I had not thought of. Can't wait to try it!
