How NOT to Paint a Pumpkin

 Materials:
  • Pumpkin
  • Paint
  • Brushes
  • Old Shower Curtain
  •  A feisty one-year old (unless you want to actually paint the pumpkin as I start out showing)
Use the shower curtain to cover the work area, and then provide a pumpkin, paints, and brushes to your child.

My three year old painted this one before she started feeling ill. :(
Do NOT walk away for even an important reason (as mine was) and expect that your feisty one year old will do just fine with the pumpkin and the paint.  Or you may return to a joker face as I did this afternoon!

Notice that the pumpkin has gone untouched.  It is in pristine condition.  Not a speck of paint on the thing.

This makes me wonder if it would have gone any better had I not had to step away for a moment.  After I guided her  to paint the pumpkin, she held the pumpkin while continuing to paint the table.  She proceeded on to paint the hands which did get some fingerprints on the pumpkin.  This was a very roundabout way to get a festive paint design on a pumpkin.  I do NOT recommend this method at all, but if you have a feisty one year old on hand, you never know...

Haha!  It's spill-proof!  Run that baby a bath!

  3. You are such a brave mom! I never let my child near a pumpkin with a paint brush! LOL! (How 'bout next year trying glitter!) I so need a glass of wine now, just the thought of it makes me shiver.

    1. LOL!!! That glass of wine sounds great! I guess I just ask for trouble with some of my messy activities. You call is brave, but maybe it's just crazy. ;)
